Rider was wearing gear but there was no helmet on his head or near the scene. Cops searched the scene but couldn't find one.

WOW! This makes no sense (I'm not doubting what was reported!). I'd hate to think somebody picked up the helmet...

Bottom line is some family has by now recieved some very, very bad news. Pray for them.

Quote:
HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A motorcycle rider is dead, but police aren't sure just when he died.

A person walking along the grassy area near the connector ramp of the Gulf Freeway and the South Loop found the body and the motorcycle around 5:45am. Police say the accident scene appeared to be several hours old.

Police say it appears the cycle rider may have been speeding as he took the ramp on to the South Loop and went over the wall. He wasn't wearing a helmet.

The crash was obscured by the wall, so Houston police are asking anyone who may have seen something to call them.

The man's identity has not been released.

Wow, bad way to go. RIP rider.

Everytime I take one of those elevated ramps, I think about what would happen if I take it too fast and just fall over when I'm 120ft high. I realize this is ground level, but the result is just as tragic.

I just saw on the newscast how the rider and bike were hidden behind the retaining wall. So sad.

That sucks! When I lived in the Hill Country, a friend drove home drunk, his vehicle was found in the ditch at a major intersection (281 and 2147), no one around and no one in the vehicle. His body was found 2 days later. apparently he passed out behind the wheel without a seatbelt, hit a guardrail at the curve coming up to the intersection, was thrown from the vehicle a couple hundred feet down a hill while the vehicle followed the guardrail and across the intersection into the ditch. No one saw anything.

Pretty much.

When we used to ride, we tried to designate the last rider and waited, could get ugly out there.
