By the time you take it somewhere and let them do it, you could have done it faster. Now that you're a bike owner you need to learn how to properly maintain your bike. Happy adventures amigo. yup go to cycle gear pick up some oil and a filter. Or since you just bought it, take it to Motorcycles Unlimited and have them do it plus a good inspection, to make sure nothing is amiss

Motorcycles do not have a "9min Jiffy Lube Express Oil Change" locations like cars/trucks do, sometimes moto-oil changes can run upwards of $50 and many times they do.

Your bike is very good canvas for a first-timer to work on. Very forgiving, for basic maintenance and an all around good pick for a beginner or experienced rider with the 500cc motor, no worries at all about taking the bike on the freeway.

You should get aquainted with the basics of your bike because oil changes, chain lube, things of that nature help you to get to know your bike and you WANT to know your bike like the back of your hand. Not let someone else do it!

Just my 0.02

And if you need any help there are plenty people here who are willing to lend a hand. If you live somewhat close I'm willing to help.

Take it to Motorcycles Unlimited. Since its your first bike you want to make sure you don't run into any problems while riding, so they will also do a free 23-point inspection which is included in the oil change.
