Nobody "shoots out tires" except in Hollywood. In real life, that's nothing but a good way to have bullets go where you don't want them to.

Think about it - you're talking about a target area the size of your hand ...moving....Not going to happen in this life. Very very few people can shoot that well and none of them are cops.

As far as killing the runner, personally, I don't give a if they do or not. Your rights ended the moment you violated the rights of another, and besides, the gene pool needs chlorine...or lead.

If we got a little bit more hardassed with criminals, we'd have less of them.

It's not that it just seems like there no good outcome in a police vs motorcycle situation. I would love to see more helicopters and less cop cars in pursuits

Anytime some can't bother to use their turn signals because they're holding a damned phone. Chase them and shoot them.

yep, being a rider gives no special consideration.. you die running, you earned it.
Seeing the bad guys go down may not give me a feeling of elation, but it brings no sorrow either...if the only way the cops can stop them is to put them down, so be it.

sure there is, runner dies, many as you can see, see that as a good outcome, becuase YOU don't believe that it's a good outcome doesn't mean it's not.

many of us would like more agressive tactics on runners

Waitting on a to make a mistake won't take that long.

I just have a problem chasing someone down over petty theft.

There certainly is a good outcome - don't run. See how easy that is?

Now, once the idiot has made the decision to do something stupid and run, there may be no good outcome for HIM, but his desires are of no concern as he has demonstrated his unwillingness to live by the laws of this society. At this point, a "good outcome" would be the runner dead or in custody - and honestly either one is acceptable. I'd prefer dead because its less expensive and has a guaranteed 0% recidivism rate.

Here's a thought:
In general running = highest speed the vehicle is capable of
Highest speed = least amount of control
No control = high probability of a wreck
Wrecks = high chance of killing innocents.
Running = high chance of killing innocents

This would lead to a conclusion that the runner is attempting negligent homicide and should be stopped by any means necessary (including jumping on the hood and putting rounds into the driver, but MH yelled at me enough to shut my trap about that one). It also would lead to the reasons most police departments will work harder to stop the runner the bigger the vehicle he/she is piloting.

yep, a person running is a felon... take them out by any means car or bike does not matter. bikes should be easier, just pull a cop cruiser in front of it
