The one you saw on Cl couldn't have been mine, I don't think I will ever part with it. I'm looking into getting to work on a Yamaha SR500 now. Let me know if you ever need a hand on your bike, I would love to come help out for a day or so. Polishing/sanding/painting/etc....

Niiice bike.
what headlight is that?
the bike i saw was a bobber i think, so def not yours.
how did you make that seat? i want a rear end like that, with the minimal seat and tucked away electricals, but dont want to mess with it until i have a lump of money to spend on the bike. in case i screw something up.
im in montgomery, where are you located? i could bring the bike out to my parents house in dobbin for a nice spacious area to work, or i could bring it to you. Help is always appreciated, and usually needed.

Yesterday we found out that the steering, as it sits now, is really sluggish, and the bike wants to turn whichever direction the bike is leaning. i think i need to lower the rear or raise the front. it.could just need more air in the tires. my friend has some shorter harley shocks he was giving me, but they are eye to eye, and i need eye to clevis. any way around that?

Ooh, those are the cr carbs. how do you like them? The cv carbs that came with my bike have pod filters, which my friend, the PO put on when he threw the airbox out.
i hear they make performance with cv carbs , but i dont know yet.

The headlight is a Projector Light that I came across at http://futurevisionhid.com/, they are very bright and high quality(no issues so far). The seat was made by cutting a thick piece of metal for the seat pan. I played around with it for a while until I could try to replicate something like the http://www.wrenchmonkees.com/motorcycles bikes. CR carbs are awesome, well worth the upgrade if you have the cash($700-$800). DOHC bikes (1979-up) do not like running on PODs, unless you really know your stuff and how to tweak CV carbs, it will never run properly. I had pods on my first project(1978 cb750k SOHC) and it ran pretty good on stock carbs. On the shocks, they might be able to work with playing around with the spacing, then running a bolt through the bottom of the eye. We would just need to make sure they are linear. So first question for you, is the bike running and idling? Does it leak(gas, oil, exhaust) or smoke(from engine or exhaust) heavily? Once you get the bike running properly, are you planning to break the bike down to rebuild from the bottom up? What is your budget for the complete build(breakdown, parts, etc) and what is your time frame for wanting to get it completed. Also do you have a picture(s) of what you want your bike to look like once it is completed?

it seems to have no leaks, and no smoke, other than from the header wrap that has cleaning stuff so into it.
The idle should be better once I replace the accelerator pump which is supposed to come in tomorrow.
Right now my plans are that I want to get it wired up hopefully maybe today, and then tweak the stance of the bike and see if I can get it to turn a little better... ill put some air in the tires in the tires abd forks and see if that helps. the tires felt low on air.

I rode the bike that short little while yesterday and it was pretty cool
it still has problems... it doesnt like running and usually stops after about a minute.
I think I'm going to have to break down and get an air box, because of the CV carbs.
we got a flasher, but it didn't help much but I have the front turn signals setup as running lights.
I have no turn signals on the rear right now. the tail light is wired up and functional and looks pretty cool. I picked up some new exhaust gaskets and put them in today and it sounds better , and no more leaks from the beginning of the header.
I also got a couple of incandescent bulb style turn signals for the rear. I'm hoping that that draws enough power for the flasher to work properly. yesterday when we tried to get to be all for LED turn signals to work the flasher wasn't getting enough draw. whenever my buddy touch it with his probando it would flash like it should. we checked a few shops around town but no one had a resistor or whatever we needed. I don't know electronics for so if I'd misspeak I, apologize.
I put some more air in the tires in a little more the forks and the bike seems to handle much better now. things are looking up.
I will try and get a few decent pictures is weekend.

I put a pair of incandescent bulb style blinkers on the back and that makes enough load for the new flasher to work as it should. project enthusiasm is boosted today.

the seat sits around the taillight. i plan to recover the seat and shorten the pan a little and taper the rear a little.

I polished some of the engine today. i got a mirror shine on the stator cover... i mean, not a good mirror, but im happy with the results. ill post a pic tomorrow. my buffer got shredded today, so i need to get another. im going to polish the chain/shifter cover next. The top of the crank case looks pretty nasty. any suggestions on a spray or something thats good for cleaning that up? its decades of road grime and oil and stuff like that.

i want a cheap bike. 250 or up. send creative trades or offers.
like the ad says, got a crappy looking ninja 250 in the garage that you never use?
gz250, rebel, virago, old whatever... if it runs and you are ok trading, youre my buddy!

if you have a friend looking for a project show him this.

one of my faults as a cl salesman is that i am honest to the best of my ability and knowledge. ask and i will give you the best answer i can
