Chad gets all of the time consuming work and paperwork together in a tidy package that you bring to the country tax place where you get vehicles registered. Makes everything much easier.

In the end you'll probably pay for the rejection letter, the surety bond (which will likely be around $100-$120) and then for Chad's time. THEN you pay the registration costs which vary from bike to bike.

Chad will let you know if i'm missing something.

that doesnt sound too bad... i'm going to wait a little while to see if i get any good bites on the cm200. maybe on sunday i'll decide if im going to keep it or sell it. the gl1000 looks good to me though. gl cafe's are hugely appealing to me, and this one looks pretty good, aside from paint.

A successor has been found. i have my friend's 1982 cb750 nighthawk that is titled.in.his name. its in need of some.work, but i think its all within my range. its all there except for.the airbox. it came with pod filters, which are cool, but the bike uses cv carbs and apparently it runs shittier with them.i have so far managed to get it to growl for a second before dying. i think it needs fresh gas and a good cleaning. my friend rode it for 3 years, so im happy to hear that

Plan so far is cheap or free tweaks and to attempt to get it running. if i can get it running then the rest will be nice and easy.

lol. i know... i do this too much.
my faith lies with the cb750.

its being scrubbed down and worked on. i think new plugs are needed. it tries to start, and will occasionally backfire, but nothing yet. maybe new plug wires...?
i wish it had a kickstart. i'm also looking into electronic ignition. i thought i had seen that for the cb750 somewhere. i havent had much time for looking yet. that might have been the sohc. idk.

Ok a little constructive crtique needed here. I count this as what your 4th or 5th project bike that hasn't come to fruition? Total up all your costs involved with those bikes and I bet you wouldn't be too far away from a nice newer bike right now. Now if you enjoy tinkering and working on them as a hobby more than riding then this is perfectly fine. But if really want a bike to ride you're letting years pass you by.

You know the old saying, the only thing more expensive than a cheap bike is a free bike.

you are correct.
to an extent, i do enjoy tinkering. i see through the ugly and see what i could do with it. the dirtbike cafe racer is so far my only real money pit. i put $2000 into that. i had a vision of what i wanted to do, and i had most of the parts to do it, but then i couldnt get it done, and still needed quite a few things. i was overambitious with my 1st big project and it up.
the vt500c came next. i got it in a trade for the dr250s. i cant recall, but i hope i didnt give those smelly hippies any money. i dont think i bought any parts for that bike. it was .
i traded that one plus a couple hundred for the cm200t and it was a pretty cool bike.
i then saw an ad and video for a naked goldwing that got me in the cheating mood again. the cm was mostly done and really just needed the title work done. but my eyes were wandering and wanting this naked goldwing on cl. the buddy that did the electrical work on the cm offered me his nighthawk 750 that he rode for 3 years, and i took it.
now i'm in the mess again. lol.
it needs a few things, but i think for under $200 in parts i'll have a good bike that will last me a long time. it's got power and looks good. ... basically.

also, my family has a proven track record of being completely at saving money.

Update on the cb750. The old carb boots.were and i needed to clean the carbs. I sawzalled the boots in half. didnt think about heating.them up...
replaced.the handlebar, starter solenoid, and have grips and carb boots on the way. ive cleaned this bike up a lot from where it was. i think i need to rebuild the petcock. ive polished a couple of things on the bike, like carb tops. im stripping the gas tank and wire wheeling some surface rust on the tank.

if anone knows of a direct swap for the gas tank let me know. id like a k model tank if it is a direct swap. or something similar, like a cx500 tank.

when the carb boots get in, i can see about push starting the beast.
i also need to get my hands on a right control pod. the old one is crumbly.
still need a choke cable and also need a headlight bulb. i cant wait to ride!

I finally rode the bike for about a mile yesterday. it needs some work, but it sounds good and loud.
i dont think clubmans will happen with this bike. maybe if i get a slimmer tank. im pretty happy with the current ergos.
i ordered a new accelerator pump for the carbs. it runs without one. i think it needs just the spring.
we drilled through the headlight bolts and made mounts for the turn signals that way.
as for the seat, i want to shorten it and have an upholstry shop cover it in tan leather and a thinner pad.

Following your thread

I really hope the 750 pans out for you. I can't wait to see what it will end up looking like. What style bike are you going for? I loved working on mine for over a year(still need to paint the tank).

lets see where this goes. 82 honda cm 200

I think i saw this bike on cl last year. it looked so good that i thought it had to be a scam.
why did you sell? your cb looks great.

im going for kind of a ratty look right now. i like the primer on my beat up tank. it looks good with the blue frame. if i get the seat fixed up it will be even better.
really i'd like a motolanna seat. i saw a maxim with one that loked great. the doc's choppers yamaha has one also, and it looks great. thats a lot of work and money that i dont want to spend right now.
i'd also like a smaller tank. i think my stocker is 4 1/2 gal, and ugly.
