Triumph Recall 675 Series

http://www.motorcycle-usa.com/601/14...le-Recall.aspx

Quote:
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has announced a recall for the Triumph Daytona 675, model year 2006-2009 as well as for the Triumph Street Triple and Street Triple R, model year 2006-2009. The recall may potentially affect up to 10,366 units.

According to the NHTSA, the “regulator/rectifier can overheat and prevent the motorcycle from charging. Once the battery is fully discharged, the motorcycle may stall.” The risk of a crash and injury increases if the motorcycle stalls unexpectedly.

Triumph will notify owners and dealers will replace the regulator/rectifier free of charge. Owners of the affected models can contact the Triumph service department directly at 1-678-854-2010. Owners can also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 or go to http://www.safecar.gov for more information. The NHTSA's campaign ID number for this recall notice is 12V445000.
Havent we known this for years!

I installed a Kawi zx10 MOSFET unit on mine and never almost died again. Mine left me stranded in a rain down pour on an over pass in the dallas high five interchange in rush hour traffic. 5 wrecks happened within 20 feet of neon five minutes as a stood on the side 50 feet up on a bridge trying to call a tow while my phone got soaked and I was . Luckily a tow came along for one of the wrecks and I told the guy I needed help and he got me home. It's about time those morons released a recall

So, 675 and street triple? They don't mention the Speed but there is a pic of the speed on the site? Hmmm...

Of course I swapped the r/r out soon after I got mine. Maybe they'll mail me a check?

I can see that meeting taking place now,

"So we've found that the part is faulty, and we should issue a recall on these models"

"Hahaha yeah that fishing tri- What? what don't we just wait until everybody fixes it on their own, then issue a recall?"

"That's a great idea, anybody heading out for lunch?"

The last time mine failed in my above post it was the third reg rec that failed. Now the new unit is a MOSFET unit like the one from the Kawi I installed. It's like Lucas electronics all over again. Brits

"I say, Nigel... I do believe we've got a bit of a problem hee-uh with this regulatuh."

"Oh rubbish! The Americans awl-ways have issues with our electronics. Lucas was absolutely brilliant and they cahn't appreciate it."

"I suppose you're roight, old chap. Let's go have a cup of tea then, shall we?'

"Ah yes indeed... now then, shall we take the Daytona or the Street Triple?"

(Long pause...) "...'Tis a good day for the Ja-gyu-ar, wouldn't you say?"

"Quite roight."

Yeah, like me.....my bike was under warranty and the dealer screwed me. He isn't a Triumph dealer anymore. I never bought another bike from him.
