Dude, you brought this on completely. There's nothing unprovoked about it. Maybe in this thread you didn't start anything, but now I'm all too happy to help you out and take the offensive. I'm just sick of tolerating your BS with a grin on my face. I know you liked it a lot more when you insulted me and I remained nice, but don't think you can make your condescending insults about me and not expect retribution. You're the one who started the quotes in the sig thing, quotes that really don't even mean anything. You're the one who made all the threads personal, attacking my intelligence at every turn, while I remained a gentleman. You didn't me off, you just put me at the end of my rope and I won't be nice to you any more. I look forward to continuing this online-feud behind our keyboard armor.

What happened with Enron was a tragedy and all of the upper and middle management belong in jail. I also that the heads and middle managements of Arthur Anderson who were involved in the audits of Enron are as much to blame for this and should be in jail as well.

I however do not like the ramifications for small cap companies after the reformations of the Sarbanes Oxley Act that went into effect as a result of this and a few other corporate and accounting scandals.

Sarbanes Oxley puts an unjust burden on smaller companied because of it's stringent and expensive requirements without addressing what I believe to be the two main culprits of the scandal. These culprits are the overly complicated tax system that is riddled with tax loopholes as well as the GAAP which allow greedy and unethical executives to cook the books.

Sarbaned Oxley has solved nothing. I can name a dozen medium and large firms here in the Houston area that are using GAAP to fudge their books and are getting away with in a similar manner to the way Enron got away with it for years. It has only forced the small companies to keep their doors and books closed to public scrutiny and to make the larger one's use GAAP more creatively.

IMO, the only way to hold corporations accountable to their stockholders is to hold corporate executives to higher ethical standards while enforcing longer and harsher jail those with less then impeccable ethics and to overhaul both the GAAP auditing system with the current Tax Code to force publicly traded corporations to be more transparent to their perspective stockholders.

my $.02

Watched this last night. Good movie.

And Jason - SOX was really meant for public companies, not for small businesses.

Who said anything about small business?

Small Cap publicly traded companies are the one's unjustly burdened by this law. The law is extremely expensive for corporations to implement. Thus it has effectively raised the minimum capitalization bar that companies have to reach before they can become publicly traded.

I'm all for it. In fact, I think corporations need more strict laws.
