Is it actually possible to buy one of these (for three quarters of an absolute crapload, I'm sure) or is it just a one-off type deal?

It is possible to get one. They take a turbine from bell helicopters to power them. Not cheap. 2 speed tranny.

I know the mechanic who builds these. Rural Louisiana, south by the gulf. Not sure if his shop survived the hurricanes. They build turbine powered everything....swamp boats (20 by 40 feet!), river racers (offshore racers to run the whole MIssissippi in a race), Leno's turbine S-10 with flame show stacks....etc..... Called MTS. Work on a better multiple gear jet bike is in the works as of 3 years ago. As was an idea of a 40 odd HP starter turbine (used to start the jets on carriers) in a more conventional bike, for touring. Think about it...run on anything....no vibration...no gears.....coolest sound on the open road.
