What others do at TWS (Texas World Speedway)

Maybe a little eye opener for some. Most people know there was, and still is, drag racing at Texas World.

A buddy of mine was there last night. Took his Atom Ariel and from what I heard, probably hurt a few feelings...

Next time he goes, I may head there with the Daytona 1200 for grins.

Took the Atom. A few (6 or 7) trailered 15" slick equipped dedicated racers (I lined up against one.....my ears are still ringing, and got beat outa the hole, but after that, it wasn't a bad race...but couldn't catch him). Lots of muscle cars, a drift machine or two, some ricers, BMers, Jeep's with the 6.1 Hemi (one supercharged one). The Atom is pretty quick in the 1/8th in stock form: 1400 pounds, 300 HP with the engine over the rear driven wheels. Start in 2nd gear. This is old school...no lights, no timers....just a starter and cones to mark the end of the 1/8th. A few bikes. Every 2nd Friday. Next event is a week from THIS Friday. If I put some time in learning how to launch a liter bike, I would try taking a bike out there. My experience is 600's and an RS250 from my long gone CMRA day grid starts. OH, one bike was a wheelie bar equipped Kawa 750 2 stroke triple. Never timed it right to get a race against it. There was a sweet 57' Chevy out there, and it was definitely fast! A Pinto with a big roots supercharger, an old school barracuda with a LOT of motor, and olds with a LOT of motor, a nice Nova.....

You are confusing TWS (Texas World Speedway) with TMS. One is College Station, the other is Dallas...

Aah-ha! makes sense.

True, TMS is north of Fort Worth just off 35W. A good ways from Dallas and enough south of Denton. Those acronyms always confuse me...
