Not worth the extra $1400 price jump from the previous model.

600cc supersports need to come down on price - not keep going up.

$1400 is a significant increase in price for a new model. As someone else mentioned the price difference between the gsxr 600 and 750 is only $400. If the new model 636 is comparable to the previous two generations than yes, I speak from experience. I owned a 2003 636 as well as the 2006 636 and have ridden the current 6r.

yeah... I haven't noticed prices coming down on anything in our current economy.. and no end in sight with this administration.

I was thinking the same....

They did in 03-04 and 05-06 models, so you would think they would do it again

Kawi must think an extra 36cc will help the typically 20-somethings quality for a loan, which now will be pushing $12k+ TTL.

There is a reason BMW evaluate the market for an S600RR and decided against it. The 600cc supersport segment is shrinking faster than Leonardo's manhood after jumping into the ice-cold north Atlantic.

If they're gonna bust the 599cc limit, why not go all the way and make a 750, or 800? That will make a much better street bike and won't jack up the price much.

They may be looking at the price issue through the lens of no real competition. All the other 600s are nearly half a decade old, with any changes being minor refreshes or bold new graphics. When the new 636 hits the market the only other recently released 600 will be the MV 675, and it will undercut the MV on price and reliability.

Also, with a new 600 Kawasaki won't have to contend as strongly with the glut of low-mileage supersports on craigslist.

This part is very true. The demographic that buys 600 SS typically don't have the cash to buy outright, and banks won't finance used bikes sold on craigslist. So as odd as it may seem, financing a shiney new bike from a brick-n-mortar local dealer might actually be the most viable option.

...if they qualify.

Shoot, sometimes even dealers can offer better loans than banks. How i ended up with the bikes i've had.

Is there just not a demand for new 600's anymore? Haven't been around the riding world enough to notice. People buyin used 600's and new 1000's?
