Mirrors vs. no mirrors

No matter how I adjust my mirrors on my R6, I can't see very well out of them, so I took them off. Anybody done the same or have some input?

^ this. I don't know how big you are, but the (06+) R6 mirrors were fine for me. Took a little angling but definitely worth it

You could always get mirror extenders so you can actually see behind you.

Well I also found out that it's illegal for your inspection sticker to not be rear facing, so there's lots of petty things that are illegal.

Is it something that the cops really look for? Has anyone had that problem?

Yes, numerous times in the past, not worth the hassle, You can get extenders, bar end mirrors...

I ditched my elbow viewers for a single crg bar end mirror on the left side. Better visibility and can actually see behind me. It takes some getting used to but I had one on my old bike and find it hard to ride without one now. you can double up on them if you want and all youll see is whats next to you and behind you. There are cheaper versions but imo CRG is the best.

You can see it in this picture

I'm thinking of going that route.

Not true
It is required that a certificate for a motorcycle be attached to the rear of the motorcycle near the license plate. The law doesn't specify what direction it faces

Legal or not, why would you not want critical safety devices like rearview mirrors. I wouldn't think of not having them on my car, much less a vulnerable motorcycle.

Yes, a lof of sportbike mirrors suck. But there are plenty of ways to fix it. Mirror extenders are available for some sportbikes. There are always bar end mirros of every shape, size and fitment option. Or... some of us get creative and find better mirrors from other bikes. I did that with my ape (ZX10R mirrors) - absolutely the best mod I did with that bike.

The looks are controversial, and I got panned plenty over at the ape forum. But my priority in this case is Function over Form and safety. Being able to scan across all lanes, or to spot a Crown Vic a 1/4 mile behind me is priceless. Several RSVR riders apparently agree. They did the same mod to theirs and loved it.

Buy a ZX-14.
THey have the best stock mirrors of any bike that I have ever owned or ridden. Can see clear as a bell in both no matter how fast you are moving!

I ride without mirrors. Never had a problem. 1 fuse away from track ready at all times.

Guess it depends how you ride, but there is NO way I would ride on the streets without mirrors. Been way too many times a quick glance in the mirror averted a collision with someone.

Not to mention seeing those red and blues wayyyyyy back there so..

Same here. I'm wider than my mirrors and I have to move a little to see, but I always check my 6
