Probably the FAQ section of the DPS website. The law in Texas does not specifically state that lane splitting/filtering is illegal. There are laws, however, about occupying a single lane and driving on the shoulder.

Lane splitting in a safe and prudent manner is not illegal in the state of California. The term lane splitting, sometimes known as lane sharing, filtering or white-lining, refers to the process of a motorcyclist riding between lanes of stopped or slower moving traffic or moving between lanes to the front of traffic stopped at a traffic light.

Same thing on 59 on the south side. They have 2 lanes closed on the main highway so EVERYONE is trying to get over on the HOV. I understand on the "managed" lane, but that doesn't mean that it's any more legal to be in the HOV only lane for the 5 miles leading up to the managed lane.

I really wish they'd have some cops out there writing tickets to violators as traffic backs up about 2 miles by about 7 am where people are trying to merge back into the main lanes before the managed lane starts. A dedicated motorcycle lane would be perfect.
