when splitting/filtering/lane sharing?

They don't do (so far). I think on page one I posted pics of me splitting past two marked cars, and three unmarked.

Dirtbike guy is going a little fast though....

I've been charged with something or another for splitting more than a couple times.

Yesterday, I did it during rush hour, there was an accident on Franklin or something and traffic wasn't budging, I'm sitting in full gear under the sun and my bike is air cooled.

Cop next to me in a parking lot, I keep glancing over and denying myself freedom, but then said "f*** it" when the light turned green the third or fourth time. I was 3 cars away from it and needed to turn left.

He followed me and left me alone after a couple turns.

I think it depends on a combination of time of day and luck. I usually hit the HOV into downtown between 8:15 and 8:30. Aside from the occasional slow moving , the HOV flows pretty well. Main lane traffic regularly flows faster than the HOV until Broadway. Sometimes it's backed up to just north of the Monroe overpass. After 610, main lanes almost always flow faster than the HOV to at least Scott. Sometimes there's no main lane slowdown at all, but I'd say my best on the HOV is only about a 55mph average.

A few months ago I had to be at work earlier, so I'd hit the HOV no later than 7:20. It ALWAYS came to a stop at the Monroe park & ride. I've timed the wait several times. If the backup is to the new toll/snitch camera booth, it's 4-8 minutes to get over the hill. Depending on when you hit the HOV, I'd bet you get ahead of your marks keeping to the main lanes until Monroe.

I will lane split if I feel like it... Zero are given.

Pulled over for it? Apologize and tell them that its too hot to bake in the sun and that if given the choice you would do it again.

Just curious... would you mind sharing links to the information you used for your defense? I would like to have it "just in case".

45 HOV has been retarded lately. Splitting (or more accurately, riding the shoulder) is tempting. There's enough room....I think they should move everything to one side and have a dedicated bike lane.

Now that I have a home computer I can actually make the video.

Maybe tonight if I can still find the files...
