Smile REVIEW: Leather Repair by MH "Slyder"

Leather Repair by MH "Slyder"
by Ormand

I purchased my leathers from Pilot (http://www.pilotleathers.com/) about 3 years ago and have been using them reguarly at trackdays (about 10) and even on the street. Some of you may recall my review of Pilot Leathers a while back...

http://www.motohouston.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=147141

I actually prefer the feel of a full 1 peice suit over street gear when riding Houston's highways...I wear leathers a lot, especially when en route to The Deelish in SW Houston The leathers have endured very well, far better than I expected, considering the amount of wear and tear they have received from my sweat and Houston's hot and humid atmosphere. Since I purchased them, I have cleaned/treated them twice with Nik Wax/Cleaner in case anyone is wondering.

Feeling hungry, I went for a full leather ride to Royal Pakistani Restaurant in Alief this past Sunday for some Chicken Boti Masala, Chai and Naan. The food, as always, was quite deelsh

When I goto these restaurants to eat, I put a bungee cord around my waist, unzip my leathers and take the top 1/2 off so it just hangs at the waist. Well, I guess when I sat down, I didn't unzip it all the way and the zipper was pulled off track and broke

I researched MH for leather repair and came across MH member "Slyder" who does repairs on all kinds of leather work, including trackday suits. I contacted her, met up with her where she discussed the work involved, turnaround time, etc. I had asked her to repair the broken zipper and also to repair some loose stiching around the hump and neck area. I dropped it off Thursday and it was ready the same day but I picked it up today.

Here are some pics

Here, you can see she repaired the stock plastic zipper with a much stronger, heavy duty metal zipper with a huge zipper pull. She had attached a leather pull to the zipper head so I could very easily zip it up/down with gloves on. The zipper itself feels strong and fluid She was also nice enough to replace the worn out velcro on the Pilot zipper hold so it stays in place now

Look at that huge zipper and tracking! Heavy duty stuff!

Here is the repaired stiching around the hump

I am very pleased with the quality, timeframe and cost of her work. If you have leathers that need repair, broken zippers, jackets that need to be resized, etc., she is the right person to goto

I'm at Royal restaurant again in full leathers. They zipped up with 1 silky zip..no more 2-stage zipping! And the velcro hold stayed in place for the entire ride and hump felt close to my neck as it should be. Ohh and I can zip up and down with gloves very easily. Great job, Slyder!

Slyder does great work. i need a tab sown on my zipper as well, zip ties aren't working so well. maybe i'll put some more patches on too.

The metal pull broke on my zipper head a long time ago so I used a keyring which worked great but it bent the metal on the zipper head. The new leather pull that Slyder put on works great!

I used a guy in Katy that did car upholstery. He did good work but not near the turnaround time that Slyder does. Great work. I'll give Slyder the business next time. Thanks for the review

Slyder is a PERFECTIONIST at anything she touches

She has had to turn down work before(me too) because of the integrity the leathers would be left with

The woman knows what she is doing!

Awesome write up Ormand

I had a seam on the leg f my tracksuit separate. Slyder repaired the stitching at a more than fair price. I promptly "field tested" them 4 laps into the first session. They held up perfectly and I rode the rest of the day. Slyder does quality work! Thanks Ana!
