Atleast they showed up. Some of these just post on line, and go to rides just to find good routes.

First of all, the overwhelming majority of people showed up in gear.
"If the meets" were to evolve into a place where indiviuduals (read adults who can decide the value of thier skin) were chastised for not conforming to some larger group of people's ideas, then the Fun factor would leave the meeting and the attendance would diminish rapidly.

This site spends enough time describing the virtues of gear that the job is done. Let the individual decide.

Personally, I roll with gear 95% of the time, and there are times like the August meet where I rolled sans riding jacket because it was too hot.
I am fully aware of the consequences of my decision but it is mine to make.

He freaks out, looses control and hits you...you end up on the side of the road and injuries depending on the gera you were wearing. What about the other guy not using gloves now? not to mention if instead of gloves we talk about helment and a stone in his face

That would suck. Highly unlikely but it would suck.
In my case, he would not be on my group ride so moot point.

seriously...good thread man.. People need to be reminded and most of us on here are just busting your chops...I mean no hate.,

Gear is another relative thing just like speed...spirited/noob...track...street...
All in perspective. The main thing I think is learning how to ride safely..be it to the meet or the track... just don't drop your peni...would rather get some road rash...lol

I fully understand the OPs standpoint. It's a touchy subject for sure. As for the people who feel riders who don't wear gear doesn't affect them, it actually does. Next time your insurance premiums go up, much of that is due to payouts due to injuries and such (and just greedy insurance ). Maybe one of the sponsors could offer discount rates for MSF courses or possibly have a few free coupons for the course that could be given away during the monthly meet. Make it a noob raffle. That way they can learn the importance of HOW to properly ride as well as the need for proper gear. I know Ride Smart offers discounts on trackdays but this would go in a different direction. Plus, you get the usual insurance discount.

Hi, I'm combatM0NKEY. I don't wear all my gear all the time.. but when I do.. I prefer DoxEquis.. o wait..

but yeah.. I wear my Gear to meets.. and when someone see's a particular gear, they ask.. HEY, how are those? I've been meaning to go buy (boots, jacket, gloves, kidney belt, elbow pad, knee pad.. etc..).. and wondering which one is a good one. I've been personally asked about what i wear and basically give an overview of what I thought about it, my past experiences with other gear, brands, type etc..
So, in a sense.. IT DOES help squids to not be squids...
Maybe this will help enlighten some of you.
