for those saying they dont care what other people do:
Lets see, you go out on a group ride, noob, or whatever. you are wearing whatever you want full/half gear or even naked, dont care. The rider next to you has no gloves, you are doing 90mph and a stone hits the riders next to you in his naked hand. He freaks out, looses control and hits you...you end up on the side of the road and injuries depending on the gera you were wearing. What about the other guy not using gloves now? not to mention if instead of gloves we talk about helment and a stone in his face

Then it turns in to your decision as to ride or not ride with them. You can make your own decisions, let others make theirs as well. Its not up to you our anyone else to tell people whatgearthey need to have on.

Or the rider fully geared up changing the song on his iPod and takes out the rider who is not wearing any gear. Or the rider who thinks it's OK to haul because they're wearing gear and takes out the rider who isn't. Or a meteor could hit the earth on the ride and kill us all. I don't care about what ifs when I ride. If I did I wouldn't ride because then would lose focus on the ride itself.

It's their skin, their brains on the road. Doesn't effect me one bit. Those who think they are safe in the jeans, meshed jacket and gloves are really no better than those wearing none.

If you feel that strongly paranoid about it, you have an option to not ride with them, just like their option to not wear gear...

Lots of "what ifs"....

I feel we lost the focus of the original post. Free will, paranoia, meteors, iPods....
For those who got my point great, for the others, fine.

It was answered in the first 5-6 post and an invite was extended to you to come and help with your idea, you didn't reply to it. So figured, you just felt like talking...

^^^this

good stuff

Wear all of it, some of it, none of it, all the time, sometimes, never, ride with somebody, don't ride with somebody, share knowledge, share experience, share opinion, listen or ignore... There are no perfect absolutes.

I wear it 95% of the time, but if some well-meaning fellow rider catches me in a 5% moment and chastises me, I'm gonna politely thank him but frankly be silently annoyed. That's human nature. Just speaking truth. Dealing adult to adult, I want us to respect each other's free will.

Having said that, I will also say that I really am an actual grownup, with thousands of street miles of experience; and I have observed that there are hotheaded children among us, fellas. The OP does make a good point for *their* sakes, certainly. Adults model good behavior. There are a couple 20 y/o boys very near to my heart with -- IMO -- way too much horsepower under their , but not nearly enough street experience -- even cage -- to temper their excitement. So I do emphasize ATGATT to them all the time, and I try very hard to model it for them too.

I am not currently in Houston, but as soon as i am back i would like to take a proactive roll in this. Using the spirit posted in the first 5-6 posts, not lecturing by by talking people into the ideas. I hope i wont be alone on this one

When I'm cruzin a freeway at PSL and I get passed by a rocket jockey doin 100 mph or more *on the shoulder* -- which I have seen twice this summer -- I am completely *un*impressed by his choice to wear mesh, lid, gloves n kneepads. There's more to it than "talkin someone into" ATGATT.
