bored and painted again...

Bought an HVLP gun this time and didn't use spray paint. The skins are a polished but the paint came out decent. At least I know I can paint my new skins with okay results.

I used a Dupli Color premix so I didn't have to thin the paint or anything. I used a cheapo $15 Harbor Freight HVLP gun @ 50psi running @ 6cfm. There's about two coats of color and then one mist coat to keep the metallic flake from striping and then two coats of clear because I ran out.

The humidity was a little high, around 70% vs the ideal 50% so I had to flash everything with a hair dryer to keep it from hazing.

Never do full tuck on the street anyway, and too poor for gopro.

Painting with a gun is far easier than with a can. The gun doesn't run low and start spitting paint like the cans do and you can turn it all kinds of crazy angles. You pay $8 for a can of paint that you can only use 75% of it.

It was $12 for the line filter to pull water out of my air line.
$15 for the HVLP gun.
$56 for two quarts of burnt orange.
$32 for one quart of clear.
$50 or so in sanding media.

It's got about 20 hours of my time in it.
