How often do you wear shoes while riding?

Boots vs Shoes.

I recently had a mountain bike spill and my shoe that I wear to ride got knocked off on impact.

Made me rethink using those shoes for riding.

I seriously trusted these too.
Velcro high top made of durable leather with double and triple stitching as well as a non-slip sole.

How often do you wear shoes while riding?

I dunno, I should dust off the old boots.

Shoes are always the 1st thing that usually come off in a wreck. Ive seen countless youtube videos, and pics on these forums and web of peoples toes bieng grinded down or bad rash. Since then I bought boots. Love em! where them everywhere I ride. I would think biking would be the same way. It could prevent a broken ankle, foot, anything. So I say boots over shoes!

I sometimes wear my Air Max nikes when going to dinner or somewhere that I want shoes. All other times I wear my Joe Rocket boots, they are comfortable and I can walk around the mall in them if I wanted.

I do agree with the above, shoes are the first thing to come off.

Slip on type boots aren't enough either.
I saw a 9yo kid wearing cowboy boots get hit by a car. His boots instant left his feet and were laying in the road about 10 feet away from him.

(He got a broken leg but I'm sure was not seriously hurt.)

My only street crash came within a mile of my house and I was not properly attired/protected because of this myopic thinking. Fortunately I did put on my lo-rise(covers the ankles) boots and helmet. If not, I probably would have had much more serious injuries than the road rash I suffered.
No one "plans to crash"...wear you f'ing gear.

I'll ride to tech inspection in sneakers. Won't exceed 15mph in the process.

I typically ride in street shoes. If I'm going out strictly to just ride my bike I'll wear the boots but if I'm going to hang out with friends or whatever I wear shoes.

Oddly enough, I lace my shoes so I can slip them on and both times I've crashed they stayed on.

Never.

A good pair of leather "racing" boots cost $59 at Cyclegear. Boots are never uncomfortable even in the hottest summer days.

At least ankle high boots for me on every ride.
Rode my cruiser one time to the store to get gas on my cruiser & it just felt funny.
In the summer , i wear my Joe Rockets boots & in the winter , my leather boots for comfort & protection.
