I do it in bumper to bumper traffic or at a queue at a stop sign to prevent putting my feet down.

I'll do it periodically on a really long ride to wake up a bit. Also sometimes I'll stand up on the pegs for a bit for the same reason.

Don't usually, but if i do... it's to make sure everything feels good before diving into a corner. e.g., does it feel like I have a flat, am I loosened up enough to move around a bit, etc.
