Doc......I have a 1980 Honda CX500C with 800 miles that was given to me. Me and my son pulled it out a few weeks ago and came up with the idea of building a cafe racer also. I ordered some ignition coils that should be here Monday. Attached is the look we are going for. I'm pretty handy when it comes down to mc repair and painting. The bikie has been sitting for a minute so we will do the inspection this weekend. If you have time, send me any link you may have for parts. I've been looking on the web and have made some favorites for parts we may need. I will post pics of the bike tomorrow. This will be one of his graduation gifts (he's in the 10th grade). I have not set a budget yet. i will do that once I get it running. Good luck with your build.

Very cool thread. I've had this in the back of my mind for a few years now, and I love looking at custom one-offs. Keep us posted.

I've always thought the CB360 Scambler exhaust would look great.

Finally got a LITTLE bit of progress Cleaned, prepped and painted the rear hub and swing arm. I really hope my paint job holds up when it's time to lace the spokes

My plan is to order the rear shocks this week with some Christmas money and have the bolt the front and rear end to the frame. Then, I'll see about ordering new rims. Yay for some progress, feel proud of myself right now

Oh and I forgot to mention I did the the wheel bearings last month (or maybe two months...), as well as the steering bearing. Slipped my mind

Dropped off the old rims today at Cycle Sports (where mark's cb is). Ken told me that the old rims could be pc'd but where the rust has eaten through the chrome it wouldn't look smooth finished. He's gonna call Buchanan's on Wednesday and check their availability and price on new black ones.
