is your 50 safety wired and have a catch bottle on it? if so you could do the riders school with it....the riders school is mostly class time with a 3 lap or so mock race.
it is primarily used to make sure the riders understand the flags, safety proceedures etc. I will not be racing the endurance but should have my bike there....if you do not have the 50 ready to pass tech and do not have the 16's on yet you can use my bike for the mock race to get the riders school done.

As long as you have a catch bottle and it's safety wired.

My son prolly wont be racing this weekend. If you need a bike for the rider school, you can likely ride his XR100 on 16's

it would not hurt to shoot Dennie and email, but you can just show up.
I forget exactly what it costs but it is not too much...getting your TMGP membership and taking the school together is around $70 to $75...the school and mock race only take a little over say 2 hours... then you have track practice for the riders school folks before open practice begins.
there is also a gate fee, i think it is 10 bucks for the day or 12 bucks for both days.

Well I spoke with Dennie from TMGP and it looks like there will not be a rider school on the last weekend , which makes perfect senses, so I will have to wait till next season to get some track time it. Bet you I will be practicing in all the local lots I have. Does anyone know when the next season begins?

not sure, I expect the first weekend race will be in March...
however there are several of us on here who are members at the katy track and will be going out there for practice... we can take guests, so when we post up that we are going, chime in and come out and practice with us.
and if you need someone to watch the boy while you ride, it would brake my wifes heart to have to do that...when i told her about him getting hurt, she was , talking about that precious little boy should not get hurt.. i told her that is what REAL boys do.

My oldest made it to about 5 before glue. Youngest, 3.

TMGP is always the last organization to post up a final schedule. They have to work around the kart track racers (owners) and take what they can get after the karters have spoken for the prime dates. This usually means you have to look at the Kart dates online and guess when TMGP will run, then find out for sure a month or so in advance. It's not ideal, but Dennie and Jeff and crew do a great job year after year keeping the series alive and kicking.

They sure do dig scars, it's healing quite fast though! I've got the fork brace on and front wheel, should have the rear wheel on tomorrow and if the chain reaches. Pics to come!

Oh

So heres the deal. I just realized how close the season is to starting and began frantically getting my list in order of things to do. Here it is.
1) Get carb dialed in
2) Safety Wire and Catch Bottle installation
3) Get Zip on leather pants to complete leathers
I have the bike apart right now, and am trying to get it all straight. I should have the carb back on the bike with a new plug to start tuning.

Heres my question. I have never raced anything ever, will I have any chance of being competitive on a bone stock old Xr100? I ride pretty hard and am still young and dumb. What classes would ya'll suggest I enter. I really only plan to do sprints for now due to a busy family schedule? Any advice is much appreciated. I am sure I will frequent this thread for bike advice.

Here are some photos:

Carb Bits getting ready to soak soaking in Pinesol
xr2 zps8ee53d3b

When I opened up the airbox for the first time I discovered there wasnt even an air filter in it. Think that could have anything to do with the carb issues.

I wouldnt put alot of emphasis on be competive on your first outting but yes a stock xr has a chance of being competive in its respective classes (supersport, superbike & F7) their are alot more classes you can run but those are the ones that you have the best chance of being competive in. Personally I run my lil 110 in everything class I can whether Im gonna be competive or not

What kinna carb issues are you having? I wouldnt think not having a filter would be an issue

I agree with Rob, there are at least 3 races that you could be competitive in and several more that you can have a good time in...this year make it more about getting the feel of things and having a good time. I never won a race last year...finished 2nd one time (in a 3 bike race, long story) finished 4th several times, but the race i felt best about and figure was my single best outing I finished 7th.

Yeah, no air filter will certainly affect how the bike runs.

I may still have carb and airbox from my XR100 if that will help ya out. It was set for stock exhaust with screen on arrestor cut out. Think the only thing its missing is the throttle cable and cap but the body is all there.
