What about a bike lane.. Small and by itself.. Would only need to be 3 ft or so.

I beg to differ.

This has happened to me only about 5 times. Each time it is done it is easily avoidable. One guy completely blocked me and proceeded to tell me what I was doing was illegal, I told him what he was doing was illegal as he was now blocking all traffic in both lanes.

There are a larger percentage of people that move over for you.

I can't park on the sidewalk?

That is the whole argument for lanesplitting. Why build more road when we could just use the currently unused portion of the road. It works rather well.

you "beg to differ" but say the exact thing I said...It does happen, they WILL do it and it only takes one of those five times to kill you.
I ride a harley, that equals air cooled and over heating if I have to sit. yeah my choice to own it, its also my choice to ride the shoulder when I have to. on the shoulder, as wide as it is, I still have had pull all the way over to stop the brazen illegal activity I am participating in. I just jump back in their lane and go around and then back to the shoulder.

I mean 5 times out of the how many hundreds and hundreds of cars?
I have more people merging into my lane than these vigilantes.

You must understand all possible risks before partaking in any activity with dangers.

I absolutely oppose these proposals. They are not safe.

What we do need is awareness campaigns (look for bikes), and more general enforcement of current laws.

LS has potential for good...and for abuse.

Look at how much 'awareness' and adverts are done during 'motorcycle awareness' month.. (lol) it's may btw. :-)

the common man already hates bikers, saying they should get special privilage cuz they can't handle the heat is going to get you nowhere.

work on making traffic flow more effiicient

Very well said.

Im in. Lol.
Seriously!!

Try the motorcaid in stopping traffic and see what happens. I know for one id be off if i had to sit behind some retards holding traffic up because of some bullshit. Do as Ed says and work on the laws. Im all for changes in bikers rights and laws. Some ways to do it right though.

Having lived in California and done plenty of filtering and spend time touring London and Paris on motorcycles and filtering there also, I can say I never have and never will do it here. It requires cooperation between cars and bikes. It requires responsible riders not to be selfish and car drivers to be tollerant.

We are a tiny minority on the streets and ignoring our laws by passing between cars here just reinforces the negative sterotype the majority of car drivers, who are also the lawmakers, have against us.

I support you in trying to update our motorcycle laws. I have watched the process over the last 25 years and it is not pretty. Good luck.

Squid Killer speaks truth...I also have lived in North Africa and spent a lot of time in Europe. Houston is not Austria, our cagers are idiots by comparison.

Slow down, be patient, stay hydrated and above all....deal with reality.
