Also curious about steering lock. Was it used or is it just that easy to get unlocked? Also disk lock. Seems either or both could have prevented this. Sucks either way

Mine was stolen from my apartments and it had a disc lock on it. They would prevent the thieves from simply rolling it away like in the vid, but once they know it's there they just need a couple guys to lift it into a truck/van.

I want to say I've heard of/seen that 2 guys can basically yank the handle bars and break the pin on the steering lock.

I wanted to pull out my gun watching that video.

And yeah, it's easy to break/bend the steering lock.

You mean the how to steal a bike for dummies video the cops put together?

I think even they realized that was one dumb move and took it down. It was a California based PD.

lol, yeah. I think that's where I saw the breaking the steering lock thing at. I think that vid was only up a few hours before they realized they were giving people ideas on how to steal bikes and took it down.

Its the same video. It showed you how to use another ignition on Suzukis and just plug yours in, and you are good to go. How to cross wires on Hondas etc etc

I wish there was more news reports like this one.

It's a shame more don't end this way.

Unfortunately this is true. I don't think most bike thefts involve riding away as they do walking or lifting into a truck. Even if they wanted to sell the bike whole, I'm sure an ECU is pretty cheap compared to what they would make off of it.

No point in pulling the ECU. In the long run you would probably end up costing yourself money from wiring damage or broken pins.

It would be easier to hide a battery switch somewhere
