TXORR Hare Scramble Season Opener Sept. 1&2

TXORR Fall Season begins next weekend. First property on the schedule is Middleton, TX. This is probably one of my favorites as it has lots of everything....tight woods, open field runs weaving around ponds & trees, some elevation, off camber hills....good stuff. I am doing my best to make every race this particular season in hopes of remaining competitive....think I'll probably run Over 30B class.

Hope to see some MH peeps out!

HA! Getting old...plus, I've got these B plates on the bike and haven't used them since the knee injury. Gonna run 2 hour instead of 1 hour to get extra seat time as well. You know they'll welcome over 30 old guys into the 30b group too, right?

Know where I can find pics of track layouts or the kinds of obstacles involved? I love racing down trails, but I can't do jumps. I like to stay on the ground, leaned low, and sliding tires.

unfortunately the course changes with each race, it's never ever the same layout. we may do a big hill climb this race and for the next it'll be skipped or replaced with a different hill climb.. TXORR normally has some EXTREME courses, hence the Texas EXTREME name..

I can't do jumps either, I hate em', gravity is a and she bites hard and leaves marks when she's done with you. This weekends race should have some nice flat ground to race on, the River Run was probably 60% flat ground which was an advantage for me.

if you want to lean low and slide some tires, come hang out with us and have fun here http://www.motohouston.com/forums/sh...62#post3349162

the track layouts are nearly impossible to draw up. Most of the time the courses range from 9-15 miles long. Otis changes the course everytime we revisit a property... Jumps are minor, although there are hill climbs, creek crossings, and stuff where you can find yourself in the air if you desire. Only Outlaw Trax and Cowboy Badlands incorporate MX sections into the race courses...

search youtube for TXORR Hare Scramble Racing, etc....here's a couple from Middleton....lots of open sections to get WOT and get your lean on!!!! I love the first video....always gets my blood pumping!

That's my kind of racing! Those bikes are big and fast, but the pace seems a little slow for a race. I almost thought it was a sighting lap at first. After I get my bikes back in line I'll def be interested in trying out this league. I saw TORC does scrambles too. However, I noticed there's no class for adult minis. Curious.

James, You may not remember me, but I went to the Easter 1 dayer for some fun, and I actually did pretty good in the Super Pole. I think I was top 3 both times. A few of the guys nicknamed me Crash cus I was bailing all day long. That's just how I learn, by pushing the limits a bit. I was in the white and orange AXO jersey. Anyways, the boot camp is a great place for learning technique and you guys are great instructors. What are the chances we could get a group of us to bring our own minis together for some fartin around, and maybe a little racing? Sort of a gusto day kinda thing.

try riding a 1 hour or 2 hour race at full speed! you'll be spent by lap #2. Seems slow until those trees start biting your hand guards.

Oh, no, I totally understand the concept of a slower endurance race. But, I've heard scrambles described by word of mouth and it seemed they'd be almost as fast as sprints, like Baja but with laps. The videos just surprised me is all. I don't have an mx bike, but I would be interested to strap some aggressive knobbies to the DR650 and try it out for some fun. I've found comfy bikes are faster than race bikes when it comes to endurance.

Even for the faster a/b guys, I would say the average speed for 1 lap is less than 30 mph, in the woods, your hauling even at 20 or so mph..

My dad wants to do some dirt riding this weekend. I remember Danny talking about paying a small fee to be able to just ride and not race. Is Otis doing that this time? If so I can probably talk him into going.

YEP YO...If you choose not to race, you can "open ride" on Saturdays after the races are over (usually by 1 pm) until dark for $25....I'm trailering up Sat morning from my side of town if you want to follow us up.
