Disc Lock

I'm looking at getting a disc brake lock for my bike for the times i can't park it in a garage. Anybody use one? I've looked into ones with an alarm, but also know alarm don't mean a lot with cars, though bikes are different. Any recommendations? Thanks

I knew a guy who put one on his bike, then forgot about it being there and started up and tried to drive off.... a costly brain fart on his part. That was 10 or 12 years ago, I think the new ones are better made and more effective and harder to do that with, but still, you want to remember its on there....

I've often played the thought of this through my head before.

I actually did that with a cable lock on my old bike through the rear wheel. Took a bit of time to get that untangled. Oops

good for theft DETERANT. It would only take 2 maybe 3 guys to lift the bike up and toss it into a van. I would always use it with the theory that if I parked my bike next to a bike that didn't have a disc lock, theives would be more tempted to target the one without the lock......that is unless your bike is what they were set out to steal.....

True about the deterrent, if someone wants it bad enough, they'll take it.

Some people swear by the alarm ones, but after reading reviews, I just got a regular one. Deterrent, and helps keep peace of mind... But far from theft proof. & yeah, use the orange cable thingy. I put lock against caliper so I can't go anywhere. Better than going 1/2 rotation & smacking caliper.

I tie an invisible or clear string from my bike to the window of an apartment and whenever it falls over or someone tries taking it, it'll pull on the string activating my alarm letting me know, about to get real

I really like/use/sell the Xena disc lock alarm.
The lock is virtually indestructable and the alarm is LOUD!
A side benefit of the alarm is you won't forget to take it off.
