Recommendations for Katy Area Shop?

Hey guys (and gals) - just picked up my first bike last night - a '99 SV650 with only 9K miles on it for a killer price I think ($1600). Checked it out before I bought it based on some of the review checklists that have been posted and everything looked pretty good. Bike idles well, brakes must be aftermarket because they are incredibly sensitive, no apparent road rash of any kind, no rust in the gas tank, etc. Being that this is my first bike though, I'd still like to get it checked out by a shop somewhere on the west side of town, just to make sure everything is good to go before I start on it. Any recommendations from the forum for a good mechanic or such in the Katy area? Thanks all!

A friend of mine has had his '98 SV650 worked on at the Polaris in Old Katy (on hwy 90)... mainly cause he bought it there. Never heard any complaints. He's taken it to Motorcycles Unlimited on the NW side a few times for things that he wasn't extremely worried about affecting warranty.

Personally, I've only used Motorcycles Unlimited. They do a thorough inspection with Oil Change... which you should probably do... just so you know it was done.

Wild West Honda recently became a sponsor and seems to be treating people well. I've bought gear and parts there, but never used their service (no particular reason, just like to have all my service done in one place... Motorcycles Unlimited)

BTW... NICE looking bike. Very clean. Being old, check the tires to make sure they aren't dried out (look for cracks in the corners/crevices of the tread)

Great looking bike, nice to see someone took care of it before you. If you don't want to ride up to NW side at Motorcycles Unlimited (which I recommend). Wild West is in Katy (also recommended), I've had service from both and wouldn't complain about either place. Welcome to the boards, hope to see you out and about!

Patrick from Motorcycles Unlimited(motorcycle unlimited) is a bad shop with great technicians and Pat that's a genius at bikes....it's on the north side...1960 so if you're not up to ride up, Wild West is a good place too...never been but BD is the man to speak to if there's an issue plus many technicians at either shop are members here so they can answer any questions or concerns you might have...welcome aboard bro

Also great steal on the bike...my suggestion is change the tires if they aren't brand new, change the oil, check other fluids, check chain and luuuuuubbbbbbbeeeeeeee...pretty much just have someone at either shop just do an overall inspection to make sure everything is good
