My Weekend Close Call

I decided I'd had enough of Houston for awhile and made a trip to Austin this weekend. I rode up yesterday, stopped at Orsak's for lunch and then continued on to Austin. I hit a little rain near Bastrop, but it cleared by the time I got to my hotel. Once I checked in, I almost immediately got back on the bike for my planned run to Marble Falls. Here I will add that I had absolutely no intention of riding fast. I just wanted a nice relaxing cruise on some scenic roads.

I stuck to my plan of cruising. Headed West out of Austin on 2222. The first part of that road is fun, but it doesn't get interesting until you cross over 620. Narrow, up, down and lots of sharp turns. All in all...hella fun. Lots of gravel and dirt driveways out there, so I actually kept an even slower pace than originally planned due to debris. No biggie...I was just there to relax.

2222 eventually turns into Lime Creek. The ups, downs and turns stay the same...only the name changes. Anyhow, about 1/4 of the way down Lime Creek I get behind a landscaping crew's pickup truck. Apparently they had just pulled onto the road, because once I got behind them they sped up to the pace I was running prior to the encounter. I just followed them, never trying to pass, enjoying the road. Nice easy pace, remember?

A short time after I found my new route leader we approached a left. I don't feel the need to describe this particular turn as "blind," because frankly, they all are. Moving on. As the truck entered the turn, the driver immediately swerved right, dropping two tires off the road and onto the dirt. WTF. I moved to the far right side of the lane (almost to the edge) and slowed as a group of Nissan Z's came around the corner. Two of them were sliding and were over the line. The driver of the first car freaked and almost lost it. Fortunately, everyone managed to stay on the road and not play bumper cars/bike.

I did not continue to Marble Falls. I realized that I wouldn't make it back to Austin before dark, and quite honestly I was shaken. Don't think you could have pulled a needle out of my with a tractor.

It happened quick, and had I not stuck with my intended slow pace I could have met those cars in any turn and been close to the line myself. I'm not gonna preach about only going PSL on public roads because I know that isn't going to happen, but I will advise you to remember that lots of people like to play on fun roads and more often than not, it's the other jackass that's gonna get you hurt.

For anyone interested in a search, rescue and recovery operation, my are still missing. Their last known location is approximately here:

LCR

Lime creek is a fun little road, not much room for error already. Last time we rode we were coming into one of the turns that has the downhill grade to a sharp blind curve and back uphill. We we nearly got tooken out by a older ford explorer I wanna say it scared the out of them to, they were way over the line.

Glad you are safe bro. I was actually planning to run that route pretty soon... my great Uncle lives in Marble Falls.

Lol.

Yeah good thing I do it with a 95 Chevy. Tokyo drift faggotry + lack of rice = smooth sailing.

That movie ruined the drift scene.
Who tf does that stuff in the daytime?

Yeah... when we go, we don't even bother with LCR most times, even though the house we stay at is a mile away... too many people trying to be the Stig on it.

Glad you came out OK.
