Sam Houston National Forest: Official Thread

Looking like more and more people are riding the forest in groups!

Maybe we can get this thread rolling week to week to see who is game.

How was it last weekend guys?

Parker, anymore video from the last time?

I'm in for a run in the SHNF as well. It's been a while since I've been there.

Myself and another riding this Thursday morning for anyone that can make it. Should be nice after the rain we got. Shooting for an early start to beat the heat, Eastside trailhead, 7:30am arrival.

You'll do fine since you already know how to ride. Just be prepared to get it dirty like you said, a couple break-in scratches and maybe pop a turn signal or two off. All relatively slow speed riding out there so hard to do much more.

Camelback full of cool liquid is a must to ride this time of year. Pay $5 per day at the trailhead to ride or you can buy an annual pass for $25 at the Ranger's station on FM1375 (you'll pass it on the way to trailhead).

Links below detail everything else:

Texas OHV sticker is required to ride

If we get on the trails at 8am then about four to five hours total. We usually take a long break midway thru for 30-40 minutes. The later the start then the shorter the ride as it will be probably high 90's after 1pm.

You could always do half the ride and leave when we return to the trailhead for our break. 1-1/2 to 2 hour ride. Many have done this before.

I would be up for Sunday morning early. Starting on the eastside, for a couple of hours if anyone out there is going let me know.
