Brazos Bend tar snakes...

MH,

So I was up watching a GOM well from ten pm to about four am, we made our decision, then I slept for four hours. Waking up my thoughts turned to, what else, No 181. So I made coffee, ate a light breakfast, geared up, checked the bike over, gassed up at Mr. XX and swanned off to Brazos Bend park. BB is one of my fav rides and it was beautiful this morning.

But, the park road itself is tar-snake city. I did the snake tango (whoo-slip-recovery) on one curve and found some difficulty avoiding the nests of snakes all over the road. A give away: the snakes have a hump back, glisten a bit, and tire tracks go tic tic tic away from the fresh snake goo.

So, safety warning: watch those tar snakes!

Lots of bikes out this morning early. I noticed HD riders will wave to me not knowing what the I am riding. That is different from the yellow Ninja...

Back to bed for me...

I hate snakes so much, fortunately I have never ran over one on the street yet.

Did you loose a lot of traction?

Tar snakes suck no matter where they are.
I have had my puckered up sliding on them more times than I care to recall!

Lol that was good man

I would take a tar snake in a turn over a bump in a turn. There is one leaving navasota to 3090 that always surprises me.

Why not? Not enough power to break the back end loose anyway!

I drove down that road on Saturday, I turned around at the gate though.

Yea, the tar snakes are a bit slippery. They're not as slippery on Crabb River Rd though, I guess because of the traffic?

I'm not so sure that what you're feeling is the tire slipping. I think it's more along the lines of the tire moving around like when you're riding on pavement that has had grooves cut in it. The tar snakes are not perfectly level with the surrounding surface so it's like riding across grooved pavement. That's my experience anyway. I ignore them when I'm leaned over and just maintain throttle.
