RC8R Sitting at Wild West for 5 weeks!

Took my bike to Wild West Honda 5 weeks ago because my RC8 was reading MPH wrong! So I call them the first week and Dan tells me that the speed sensor is bad; notice I called him...he didn't call me. So once again I call him a few days later to see when my bike is going to be ready. Then he tells me the speed sensor is not the issue; it's the entire speedo! Well was he going to call and tell me that? So I get KTM North America to good-will warranty all the work and was approved. My speedo was on back-order for 2 weeks; which is known to happen. So I call Dan, notice I am the one calling him..is my part in yet? This has been week 4. Still no part; so I call KTM myself and and they told me the speedo was delivered and signed for on August 8th. I call Wild West and they tell me it's not there! So I call KTM back and tell them it's not there! So on Tuesday I call my salesman buddy that works at Wild West and ask him to go to the service dept. and ask them where the is my part! Well Dan finally calls me back and said the speedomter was installed and still reading MPH wrong! Once again, were you ever going to call me and tell me? Now they don't know how to fix it! In the 5 weeks my bike has been sitting there I received one phone call from those guys and that was only after I had my buddy go back there and ask them. I recieved more calls from KTM than I did from those guys! Oh and here is the clincher! Wild West does not release your bike on good-will warranty work unless they have been paid! Even though KTM has approved and authorized it; my bike is being held for ransom! Every dealer I have spoken to is puzzled by that! It's almost like they think KTM is going to stiff them! I have purchased many bikes mostly from Houston Motorsports; which let me just say...those guys over there are top-notch! I feel like I just left my wife for my girlfriend and it's been a disaster ever since! Now I miss my wife and want her back! Just curious if anyone else has had issues with Wild West service? I understand that you are treated better by the dealership if you buy the bike from them; but 5 week! Really! And they still don't know how to fix it!

I know the feeling....got swindled at a local Kawi dealer years ago that sold me an ex race bike!! (I didnt know at the time of purchase but later found out) was in service multiple times for random . Last time was 2 months...turns out the service douche bag quit and pulled all the tags off the bikes so they had no idea who they belonged too

Oh and this thread might be locked bcuz WW is a sponsor here....

I'd be be up there starting WWIII and I would have KTM on the phone while you sit there and tell them that a dealer that pushes their products is their consumers.

That sux bro. You figure they would at least communicate a little bit better with you. There a sponsor here so this thread will probably be deleted or locked shortly but at least a few people will get a heads up of what to expect.

Thanks guys. Just ranting! I am going to go up there tomorrow and talk to them in person. Probably a good idea to remove it.

I think it's legitimate. Here's a customer that simply wants someone to pick up the phone and let him knows what's going on with HIS property. But I agree with you on the powers that be want to make sure their sponsors never get any bad press.

Oooooooohhhhhh this will be a good fight thread lol first page *gets popcorn and puts on 3D glasses*

But to reply to your post, yes it is bullshit that you had to call and got no call back concerning your bike...also bullshit regarding the speedo being claim to not work and holding it ransom...I hope it's an isolated incident regarding this and not a reflection of the quality of work there

I'm currently dealing with Mancuso about my bike that they have had for over two months. I am TRYING to be patient, but everytime I call its another story. Its getting really old, really quick at this point. Unless something drastically changes I dont see a good outcome, and I will never go back. I hope they prove me wrong.

Can the service department at motorcycle dealerships make outgoing phone calls?

Sometimes I think the best incentive to be a sponsor is to be able to lock negative threads. I'm not saying I agree with it though
