2006 R1 race/track bike or needs title $4500

I'm selling my 2006 R1. Engine has a bit over 2,000 miles. Title is missing but the Carfax is clear, it was stolen but I got the bike back so they never filed it as stolen, but all the paperwork from the previous owner was missing out of the back seat. I've tried contacting the previous owner to get new paperwork but he has not gotten back to me so right now the DMV has the bike released to me but i do not have a title in my name. When the guy that stole it he ran from the cops. When he came to stop and dropped the bike on the left side. There is some minor scratch's and one dent in one plastic but nothing that can't be fixed. Gas tank is still flawless and engine is flawless. I posted the craigslist add which has some pictures. I'm trying to sell quick but i'm not going to change the price. You can send me a message on here but it would be better to e-mail me i'll get it fast. My e-mail is catskillfire51@gmail.com and my phone # is 5one8-965-0897. I'm in the military and stationed in Surfside that's why i don't have a texas area code. Contact me with any questions.

your best bet would be to keep the surety bond on the bike until it expires (or no-one contests it) that way you can get the physical title to the bike before selling it.

It is illegal to sell a bike in the state of texas without a title fyi. (And may be against the rules of this forum havent read through them yet)

edit: before the stunnaz bust in with flames about how "dey do itz all duh big tyme" heres a bit from the Trans. Code (you know, our traffic laws...)

Transportation Code Section 501.152 http://ftp.txdmv.gov/pub/txdot-info/...l_book_451.pdf

(a) Except as provided by this section, a person commits an offense if the
person:
(1) sells, offers to sell, or offers as security for an obligation a motor
vehicle registered in this state; and
(2) does not possess the title receipt or certificate of title for the vehicle.
(b) It is not a violation of this section for the beneficial owner of a vehicle to sell
or offer to sell a vehicle without having possession of the certificate of title
to the vehicle if the sole reason he or she does not have possession of the
certificate of title is that the title is in the possession of a lienholder who has
not complied with the terms of Section 501.115(a) of this code.
No person in this state may offer for sale any motor vehicle registered out of state
without having in his or her possession a title or registration receipt if the motor
vehicle is from a non title state.

He was simply stating the fact that since you're in the military it would add to the character of your situation, selling the bike without the title, we respect our troops here!
