Corner Junkie came over and helped me out. I had to undue all the fasteners from the rear section, and the 4 screws that are underneath them (had to take off license plate bracket) and pull down on the part that has the license plate. Then I was able to pull the cable and pop the cowel off. From there, it was pretty easy to figure out how to re-run the cable. Now on to the next major thing, which is taking off the oil filter. I've googled this and none of it is helping me. ................looks like I'm gonna have to find a way to get this thing to a shop and let them take it off for me. Anybody know of a shop near the Reliant Stadium area??? Preferably someone who won't bend me over.

Is there any chance you can use a set of large channel locks? Or a rubber strap wrench? I would imagine you might have room to use one of the two tools I suggested.

I've already tried that, with no such luck.

I have come to the conclusion that this project bike is more headache than joy right now. Still trying to find a shop close by that can get the filter off.

Nope, not a farmer, just a screen name that I've had for a very longtime.
