Father kills son on m/c

http://www.ksl.com/index.php?sid=215...cycle-accident

A toddler was pronounced dead after a motorcycle he was riding on with his father crashed.

Around 2:40 p.m. Sunday, Unified Police Department received a call about a motorcycle crash involving a 1-year-old boy and his father in an apartment complex parking lot at 4521 S. Bridgeside Way in Taylorsville.

The man, 48-year-old Shannon Moore had taken his son for a ride on a motorcycle, placing him between himself and the handlebars, sitting on top of the gas tank.

Driving at an excessive speed, Moore tried to negotiate a turn and lost control of the motorcycle, crashing. The toddler fell off the gas tank, sustaining fatal injuries.

"This is something we see a lot," said Unified Police Department Det. Levi Highes. "People want to take their kids for a ride, they put them on a four-wheeler, a motorcycle, they drive around, there aren't helmets on them. It just takes a little bit of a slip; you're holding onto a bike, you can't hold onto a child. …If you have a child who can't reach the pegs, can't hold on, this is far too young to be on a bike."

The boy was pronounced dead on scene, and Moore was transported to a hospital to be treated for his injuries.

I agree what he did was stupid, but you dont think he is going to have to live with it anyways. He just killed his son. I think he should be punished for sure, but no way he needs life in prison.

Less chance for him to kill himself... cause if I was in his shoes I would be very tempted to off myself.

Not really, but why do we have to pay to keep his in prison for ever. I highly doubt his intention was to kill the kid, and it only says exsessive speed. We dont know if this was a street or dirtbike, nor how fast they were going. Too little details to throw the life sentence out there.

So tragic, this is why my boy didn't ride with me till he could hold on, always wears his helmet and only goes on the fiddy in second gear , in the grass . No recovering from this , but accidents do happen .

Yeah, there's no potential for a life sentence on a manslaughter charge.

As parents we all make certain choices. Sadly he made the wrong choice. I wonder how is family feels about it? Wife other siblings? He's a douche and needs some kind of punishment. He has to live with this for the rest of his life. Maybe that's punishment enough..

There's a reason they don't make helmets that small, or car seats for motorcycles..

Very sad for the entire family.

very sad, RIP and my thoughts and prayers are with the family and father. I can't imagine how horrible and stupid he feels.

My son won't even let me turn the bike on with him around, he says "it's too loud". Forget putting him on the bike while it's running and a big NO to taking him on a ride at the young age of three
