and they are still faster and weigh less. torque means nothing if you have corner speed and ability. we're talking racing here. both motors get torn down after every weekend anyway so wear has nothing to do with this comparison.

It's not really a debate.

If you compare 2 strokes vs. 4 strokes w/ equal displacement, a 2 stroke makes MUCH more power. That is what 2 strokes were made for, used in racing for, etc. More power while weighing much less than a 4 stroke. There's no debate there.

However, since a 2 stroke makes power every stroke, and a 4 stroke makes power every other stroke, power comparisons of similar displacments is pointless.

Apples to apples would be a 500cc 2 stroker to a ~1000CC 4 stroker.

Same displacement comparisons between them is apples & oranges.

That is why MotoGP said you can use up to 500cc 2 stroke or up to 990cc 4 strokes (until this year).

If they were apples & apples Moto GP would not have limited 2 strokers to 500cc.

sorry that whole "a 2 stroke is at twice the rpms to make the same power" statement was just wrong. basically he's saying if a 4 stroke makes 200hp at 15000 rpms a 2 stroke would make 200hp at 30,000rpms.
