The best setup is from these guys. You tap threads into the end of your bars and mount the other end to a new top clamp. Kinda pricey though but they are bulletproof. My bikes were bought used with bark busters already installed or else I would have these.

Which trail(s) did you guys ride? I did the Northwest loop on Sunday and it was dusty as . Am tempted to ride again this weekend but don't know if I really want to play in the sand all day.

We rode the Eastside trails. Not sure what you're calling the Northwest Loop. From what trailhead is that?

Anyway you always get sand on these trails. But 40% chance of rain today and tomorrow up there so if it does rain a little then that will keep dust down and traction up.

I used the Northwest trailhead off of FM 1791. It's an 18 mile loop. You can also access it from Stubblefield (aka West?) TH, which adds a few miles. There seemed to be fewer downed trees on the Northwest loop than there were on the lower Eastside trails a few weeks back but that could have quickly changed.

Will check for updates on that rain!

I've never ridden from that trailhead before, only Eastside, Kelly Pond and Stubblefield. I bet the terrain is probably very similar though, if extended periods without rain the sand gets very deep in spots and a dust bowl. Possible that it didn't rain there last Friday as 10 miles or so from the Eastside.
