how strict are they on the .023" rule? What I used will definitely let .023" wire pass through. May have to redo this again tomorrow...

To get that wire in those holes they would have to aim it. I've never seen any of them "aim it." They've always stuck the wire in the exhaust real quick to see if it stopped.

Final headcount? Who's in? I have a 16' trailer that I can bring if the deciding factor for someone is that they can't find a way up there.

Parker
SilverBullet
myself

Anyone else?

build one like i did. mine took about 15 minutes and cost literally 2$

This is what I used:

Shower drain screen

but i bet a metal screen from a kitchen strainer (for pasta or similar) would work well too.

drill out the rivets, then remove the endcap. Inside you will find a metal tube, and some fiberglass packing. Wear gloves and long sleeves and keep the fiberglass off you... it's nasty stuff. Fit the screen over the tube. I had to trim about 3/4" off my tube to make it fit nice. then re-assembly and rivet it back on.

A rivet tool is like 16$ as lowes, with rivets. Probably cheaper at harbor freight.

I probably Gould have read thought the entire thread but what type of muffler do you have? I may have an extra spark arrester for the fmf q4 if that's what you need. Also if you have a fmf call them up and tell them you picked up an exhaust and ordered a spark arrester separately and it didn't fit. I do that and they sent me a free spark arrester Great guys.

Great riding today! Very hot but the trails were awesome, ground still had lots of moisture and a few mudholes = no dust! Must have gotten much more rain up there than we did in Houston area last week. The big loop had tons of downed trees, must have been near a hundred today, most were passable but some too large to go over so had to go around.

Good meeting some new faces; Parker, Stunt Heavy and ThomAss. First loop was with myself and first two, second loop with myself and second two. Me and Stunt Heavy got a good workout riding both loops, probably overdid it a little but I have no regrets. These old bones are aching and sore right now but a couple more beers and I won't be feeling any pain, haha.

Let's do it again soon.
