Do we intermediate point lap times??? Or is that even relevent.

My thinking is that these times are not that good of an indicator of qualification or race lap times because of intentional slow downs. For example, if I was interested in testing my aero, power delivery in the higher gears, and stability I would go slow through part of the track and pick up the speeds on either side of the straights. Then, perhaps while interested in testing cornering, different characteristics of braking and accelerating I might slow briefly on the straights but keep my speed up elsewhere.

That way I can get good testing without letting everyone else know how good I am. Does this occur? I am a complete idiot?

Discuss. (don't discuss me being an idiot in general-just as it pertains to testing)

These teams spend a LOT of money on these tests. The last thing I'd expect them to do is sandbag. They are testing all sorts of things, parts, tires, 'lectronics etc..

I think they are always going full tilt, but some settings/parts just don't work and the lap times reflect that.

Some guys will spend a whole day testing tires.. some good, some bad.

Sandbagging would only hurt your efforts to understand how your bike works and will kill you in the long run. IMO.

The first day of testing definielty doesn't tell you much, but the second and third days are pretty good indicators of who is running well and who is still having issues, but it is not a crystal ball for the season.

Intereting though that Hopper has been at or near the top of the testing times both before the break and on the first day after the break.
