Near Deer Experince

I had my first near collision with a deer yesterday in a very unexpected place and time. I was about halfway between290 and Magnolia investigating some back roads that led through some secluded subdivisions. I was on a road called Joseph off of Kickapoo (and by the way the curves on this road are unmarked and kind of technical) rolling toward a curve about 50mph and a doe landed in the road about 10 yards right in front of my bike. She must have hopped over a someone's front yard fence right into the road in front of me, and this was only 5:50pm.
I would say she was 6 months old. Not huge but big enough to up a good day.
Needless to say a a brick and was pretty rattled for about 30 minutes.

I slowed down and promptly left for the relative safety of the freeway!

The family has farm/ranch land back there. Awesome roads BUT be careful of deer, random cattle, dogs, old timers in their cars and farm tractors.
And you're correct, most of the curves are not marked.

A lot of the more traveled are greasy in the center as well, so you get to practice backing it in and drifting out...

Similar thing happened to me a few weeks ago. A few deer jumped a fence 100 yds ahead of me. I slowed down a bit and as I was looking at them as I passed, here comes Bambi strolling behind....jumped out and ran across the street about 20 yds in front of me.

Lesson learned. If you even see one deer, there may be more following behind, so drop speed and proceed with caution.

BYRDMAN had a roadrunner dart across the road in front of him on our Hill Country trip a few weekends ago, that was INCHES from being run over.

Joseph Rd - Google Maps
I think if you put your "A" balloon south to the next curve it was there.
That scared the out of me. A few miles per hour faster and "bambi" would have scored one for the deer population.

Should you expect any less on a road named Kickapoo?
