First, let me say I am not a lawyer and this is simply advice based on opinion.

So... yes if the cop fails to show the case is dropped. That is a tuff one to try for though. Most of the cops are there now days but, not always. You do not need to go to court for the Defered. Most of the time you just mail that slip that they gave you in and you are done. Or you can make an appearance at the court building and settle it with the clerks. Or you can fax it in, just call the clerks first and let them know what you are doing. Try to be nice and they usualy do the same. Your plea is No Contest for defered.

Here's exactly what to do right now: call David Sprecher.

This is why you get a professional--they know what to do and can lead you the right way better than anyone else.

He's handled several tickets for me (for free too cuz I'm a law-talking guy :icon_bigg )

That is how a friend of mine with a cdl always managed to keep his license. He would let a ticket go to a warrant and then go down and pay the fines and nothing goes on the record and insurance is none the wiser.

witchdoctor, I would think that would just double or escalate to bigger fines than getting a deferred.

More than likely, but if you were to average a ticket every 3 weeks then no judge is going to deffer you. It is well known that money does not breed intelligence.

true that, but you're saying. Even though I paid the fines, it will be dismissed? It won't be on my record? Are you absolutely sure?

that is how it was some years ago. Laws might have changed since then. I haven't talked to the guy in 6 years so I haven't kept up with his legal fiascos. But it always amazed me that he never lost his cdl.

just get Def. Adj, yourself. Save the attorney for a more difficult case. If what you stated is true, the judge will give you def. no problem.
