Need HELP guys! Any rider who's a Lawyer?

Got a ticket doing 48 on a 30 in downtown + no inspection sticker.
The inspection sticker is not a problem. Problem: I already took defensive driving last March 7, 06'. So, that's out of the question.

I can go and plea no contest and ask for a deferred adjudication plus court costs. or....

get a lawyer, who basically do the same thing as above mentioned. I have advertisements in the mail says $75 will do it all. What do you guys think?

So, any riders who are lawyers, please give me a shout. Thanks. oh, court date is Jan. 31st, 07'. :eh:

I've allways used David Sprecher on montrose. He is the man when it comes to speeding tickets.

Whatever...A lawyer is only needed if you want to fight the ticket and go to trial. Everything else you can do yourself, it comes with the paperwork with the ticket. You can apply for deferred adjuducation via mail. No court appearances. Why hire a lawyer for that? Lets say you do go to trail (judge or jury) and the officer doesn't show. Then people are like my lawyer beat the case. Ummm...no. The state didn't have a witness so the case was dismissed. Hiring a lawyer on a simple deal like this just aint necessary. You can give me the money and I guarantee that nothing happens..... JUST KIDDING. Not Really.

On the inspection. Get your bike inspected within 12 days, and make a copy of the inspection paperwork and your ticket. And take it to the 1st floor of the municipal court building and it will be dismissed.

I forgot you keep your legal team on retainer for situations like this.

i always call david sprecher for houston courts. $100 and your done with a dismissed ticket. Usually you don't have to show up for court but sometimes you rarely do.

It is farily easy to defend yourself unless you are aready on prohbation for other offenses. Then usualy a lawyer is needed to do some rescheduling and things of that nature.

Defered is a good choice, save your defense driving for an out of town ticket and save your lawyer money to only be used if you have to deal with another ticked while on prohbation from your defered. Also, it only violates your prohbation if you are convicted of an offense. Getting a ticket itself is not a conviction. So, you can even push for a court date yourself that will be outside your prohbation period and then do the same thing all over again but, if you get your defered and on your way home get a ticket... then a lawyer would be a good idea.

so, tell me EXACTLY what to do right now first.
Go to court? and what do i plea?
Is it true that if the officer didn't show up, my ticket WILL BE DISMISSED? or is that just what everybody is saying?

if you get deferred for 3 months then you get another ticket. you can hire a lawyer to push your date back till you probation of 3 months is over. then the lawyer can schedule you for court.
