good ol stand up jet skis

well guys...pretty sure we can put this bad boy here.

been looking around for a good priced, cheaper the better, stand up jet ski. been riding them for the past few summers but theyve always been friends and they arent really into them....just have them. I was just wondering if anyone round these parts knew of any for sale, had any for sale, or anything else haha.

we can also discuss different models on here too....since im not 100% knowledgeable on this subject.

ones that i have tried out:
198x Kawasaki (550 or 650?)
2001 Yamaha SuperJet

thanks guys

Jet cycles used to race them I believe. I have rode the kawi 550 and man it's like a ninja in the water! Once you are good enough to stand up and cruise, it's fun as all !

I've got a spare Kawi engine, complete if anyone is interested, it's a JS300, it came in the older kawi SX models.

There are two clean kawasaki 300s on a double trailer on craigslist right now, but that tiny motor is gonna top out at 20-25mph. They would be prime candidates for a 550 or 650 conversion though, and engines can be had relatively cheap from guys that stuff monster motors under the hood. I say get at least a 550, and I prefer the 550sx over the previous js550 as it can build more power. A superjet would be ideal, but they demand a premium price over the kawasaki skis in my experience. We really need a real world budget to work with here, as these things can range in price depending on mods and condition. Engine rebuild kits are cheap, but I'd at least start with a running ski and go from there. It would benefit you greatly to join the forums at www.pwctoday.com and keep an eye on the classifieds. I found my current pair of skis on craigslist. Also, check Dallas and Austin craigslist as they typically have more skis for sale.

jetcycles clearly has experience with old stand up ski's. I personally think a modified 550 SX is a better boat than the 650 SX. The old flat bottom hull is fun to ride. I've been riding stand up ski's since high school. Currently own a heavily modded SXR 800, bone stock 550 SX for everyone to ride, and a built piston port 550. We are a Kaw. dealer, if you need help let me know.

standups rule! nothing like carving some corners and doing some figure eights on calm water.

jetcycles is right about that 300 engine, not enough power. I had a 440 and outgrew that one real fast. the 550s and 650s are sweet but oneday i want a superjet or kawi 800.
