no he doesn't or he would not have asked, I am sure he was expecting to get something he could actually eat.
not knowing what the bike looks like and not knowing the riding style here, I would say in reference to the original question, he might not need either one.

if the choice was between a gpr or a paint job the choice is obvious, my question though is "is a stabilizer needed if the rider never goes to the track, rarely sees high speed, high speed corner exits, or wheelies?"

I have rode my r6 on the street and on the track... Either way it's needed... And it's also a great saftey feature.

helpful yes, needed no. until the rider uses his bike to the point to where he feels like he needs one, the money is better spent elsewhere.

hard parts first. Paint last, if ever.

the "original debate" was whether or not a gpr was necissary based upon the given riders ability and riding style. what i said was there might be other things to worry about before a part that might not even get used. i never once said that paint was more important that a stabilizer. plain and simple.

i would say DAMPER, unless he doesn't ride aggressively. But it could save that paint job in the long run. If he doesn't give a about his safety and just wants to look cool and pick up curb monkeys.... Then tell him to go with the paint job. Might make his ego feel better.

Ask your boyfriend if he would buy a GPR or wait a bit longer and spend a few more bucks on an Ohlins linear stabilizer.

I rem someone offering me a GPR for $300 when I first got a bike and I was like.. wtf is a damper? GEEZ that's expensive whatever it is. 3 months later I get a severe tank slapper on a crowded freeway... had a damper in the next cpl days lol
