Sold the FZ6R, got me something else

Yeah, I sold the FZ6R. I badly missed my CBR 954RR. So I got me an 06 CBR 1000RR. It was laid down(very miniml cosmetic damage). Only thing needed to be functional was a rear brake lever. Got a of a deal. Anyway, here are some pics

I'm so happy to be back on a Honda literbike. She's a lot smoother than that beastly 954 I had.

My 954 had a rougher idle, had a lot more mechanical noise (ticking, rattling), and just felt overall rougher. I loved it, if I could have gotten my 954 back as I sold it I would have. Now, this 1000RR being stock it's quieter, so maybe that's why I think the 954 seems rougher. Since it's quiet it also seems slower down low, but that could just be perception. I love how the 1000rr steers, the HESD is cool. I like the light steering at slow speeds. My 954 I had the Scotts steering damper tuned real stiff to eliminate the tank slapping, but it made the steering a little stiff and wooden. I still absolutley love the 954 and I plan on owning another one. This 1000 will hold me over, lol

Ok, so about a full week riding the 1000, here are my immediate observations:

1. The 1000 manages heat a lot better than the 954. Here in Houston it's been in the mid to high 90's. The 954 would roast my thighs, the frame would get too hot to touch. The 1000 is way cooler. I have a little heat coming off the exposed exhaust pipe on the right side, but nothing as bad as the 954.

2. The 954 definetley was more comfortable. The seat was larger and comfier. I had less weight on my wrists. The 1000 isn't a penalty box, but is is a little more agressive.

3. In my week of commuting I can't say anything about handling, I haven't pushed any corners. It seems the 1000 rides a little bit smoother over bumps, but that could be the settings(I haven't had it dialed in for me yet).

4. The brakes on my 954 were incredible. It did have stainless brake lines, and ATE fluid. The 1000 brakes are awesome, but having the stock rubber lines they are bit squishier.

5. Power, I haven't really wrung out the 1000 but in everyday riding, it is deceptively fast. The 954 with the Yosh pipe was always grunting, barking and always made it's presence known. It felt and sounded like it was pulling harder from dwon low, but I can't say for sure.

Those are my thoughts so far.

Your son was killing me in that video. I see a future in motorcycles for sure in him with how he seemed to be enjoying revving the engine so much.
