You missed the point too. It's a feature story plus he's the only 5 year old to qualify for the event this year and he happens to be from the Houston area. It's not about, "OMG a 5 year old on a dirt bike"

You missed their point. He's not the first 5 year old to race what has always been known as Loretta Lynn Nationals. He's not the first 5 year old to race this national series and lives in Houston. Also, maybe I missed it (but I doubt it) but the article doesn't say he is the only 5 year old in his class. If you actually knew what the you were talking about, you would know the Stock Limited class is for children 4-6 years old, proving their are children younger (and probably faster) than this kid. This is only a "feature story" for the ignorant like yourself that don't know about MX racing.

And I doubt you care, but I think youre a douche bag!

What, you don't know how to google before you spout off? Am I only allowed to post facts from the first link? What other interweb rules am I violating?

i agree that the new today is a joke... but that said, what is wrong with a human interest story dealing with positive things from our area...so what if there are others out there doing the same thing, this is one that came to the attention of the reporter.. i wish we would see more of this kind of story...beats 14 dead and 50 wounded in a colorado theater.

While it may not be "news", I thought it was interesting at least to hear about a local kid coming from someone that doesn't know 2 things about mx or sx. It may not be the first or last, but at a minimum it was worthwhile to read.

Take chill pill guys. Not everyone here are motocross connoisseurs and know the entire history of dirtbike racing such as yourselves..

But do you know what should and what should not air during an hour long news broadcast? Is there anyone younger competing in his class in TN?

I for one like the story. I completely understand that there have been others that have gone in the past and will be more in the future, but it is a feel-good story. You know, the kind of "riding" story that everybody would rather see on the news versus the "rider down... high rate of speed... no helmet" stories we far to often see. As a father of a 6 year old, I love seeing things like this, but I'm sure there are other parents that get upset that it isn't their kid on the news. Fair enough, but this sheds a positive light on riding and may even bring in new riders to the sport. We should be happy and proud of this kid and encourage our own to persue goals such as this.

As does just about everyone else posting in this thread. If there was a positive news channel, I would tune in. I hope the kid kicks at the races as Loretta Lynn is THE race to be for amateur riders.

I agree. I think there SHOULD be more coverage.
