Where can I get a helmet custom painted?

I've always wanted a custom painted helmet. Anyone got recommendations on whom to use?

What are you looking to have done? Just paint, or are you adding some l.e.d.s?

I think for the most part, high end helmet manufacturors tell you not to do that....but there may be someone out there who knows why and has the skill and knowledge to make the look you want and not do what ever it is to the helmet that the manufactuors are concerned with.
I painted quite a few helmets before the manufacturors said you could not do that.

I think most helmets are polycarbonate and the mfr's are concerned that the solvent in the paint may attack the plastic.

That said, the mfr's paint the helmets so there must be a type of paint that is OK to use...
I'm thinking an experienced painter would know how to deal with it.

I checked around for awhile a couple of years ago before I had my Racing helmet painted ( Bell Dominator ) and you can spend what you want...the popular guys run about 500.00 and up.... I ended up using a guy in LaPorte "Coupland Signs" he air brushes, stripes, airbrushes race cars etc. but on helmets he had a flat 150.00 price regardless of what you wanted. That used to be the price at least, and he was by far the most reasonable. Good Luck

Stumbled across this while looking for something else entirely. Don't know these folks or anything about them, just thought I'd share the link...

http://www.afcustoms.com/portfolio.php

The last page of the car and moto section of their gallery shows a helmet they painted.
Good luck, let us see what you get done when your finished.

I know a guy who does great work with an airbrush, problem is he is currently incarcerated. I work at the prison though, and he still does it in the craft shop we have. Cheap too. Hes working on one right now for a coworker.
