Texan drivers - a yankee troll thread

Texas drivers are pretty much the worst in the nation on average and this is statistically proven - call your insurance company and they will send you the stats. Texas ranks 48 out of 50 for the least time between accidents meaning ur average texan has quite a few accidents. Now the argument can be made in texans defense that it is a large state with very little public transport so texans drive more and naturally will be involved in more accidents. but since moving here i have seen the following as very common themes in Texas that I rarely encountered up north

-Lane discipline is raped hard without lubrication filmed edited and then sent to the rape victim on their birthday

-Blinker isnt optional its just not used at all (white pickup trucks and land rovers seem to be worst offenders)

-Ability to drive in the rain is a joke

-Much slower to take off from green lights which leads me to believe drivers arent paying attention - basically just jerking off

-on two lane hiways like 290 west heading out to austin you will get two drivers usually pickup trucks in both lanes next to eachother going 10-15 under the speed limit holding up traffic - its like those farmers are trying to herd cars

-seems to be an incredible amount of drivers carelessly moving mattresses around the cities like there is a huge matress black market out there which im cool with but it becomes a problem when they bounce out of the truck and sit on 59 for everyone to dodge and eventually hit

-lastly many texans buy trucks that are entirely too large for their daily purposes - if you own a Ford texas edition truck and work in downtown houston you are basically broadcasting your tiny and your inability to achieve lasting errections on a regular basis. if you own a twin turbo diesel turck work a desk job and regularly get frustrated with the lack of adequate parking in a city like houston then you need to buy a pump and a more reasnonalbe form of transportation and get a shrink to help you with the ego issues

Overall it would not be a big deal if I was always driving a cage. I can handle myself. But when on the bike these folks negligence could quickly end my life so i view them all as attempted murderers

Your statistics should probably include a pretty sizable fudge factor for all of the drivers in Texas that aren't texans. We have a considerable number of legal international and completely undocumented drivers. The second category especially, is probably a sizable cause of accidents, but can't be attributed to either Texas drivers or Texas driver's Ed.

Me personally, I'll take Texas drivers over Colorado or oklahoma drivers any day.

^ Agreed. That's the honest truth too. A cluster- of illegals without auto insurance.

I commute thru here everyday, It really sucks .

Good thing my job allows me to leave at 4:30pm. That little 30 minutes window helps an awful lot.

The dude Is right. Texas is the worst state I've EVER driven in and I've driven in a lot. Literally as soon as I crossed the border from Shreveport back into Texas, instantly, truck in left lane holding up a whole line of cars with absolutely no consideration for anyone else.

I don't think a guy with a tattoo of the state has any room for negative talk

Besides asian woman drivers... The problem is most texan drivers can drive, they just choose to drive like morons. People in other states just cant drive at all.

I don't think the OP has ever driven through Baton Rouge, New Orleans, New York city, New Jersey or a number of other places..

Hahaa - try driving in Chicago. Road rage is practiced with a horn - not a gun.

Granted this thread is based on opinion, Texas is a far cry from the worst drivers. Plus, the closer you get to downtown Houston, the worse it gets. Farther out away from Houston you start to see some sort of common road courtesy.

+1 lived in New Orleans, drive there quite often still.
Texans drive faster, but people in La have never used a blinker or checked mirrors before changing lanes.
Fact.

I agree that Houston especially is REALLY bad as well, but I'll take fast and slow drivers on the same road, before unpredictable.

Try driving in Michigan or Ohio, the courtesy is strange at first.
