usps lost mail question

i sent a package in the mail dec 1st , with trackin # and insurance through usps...

i figured the guy got the package so i threw away the reciept , a few weeks ago he emailed me and he is claiming that he never got the package ... it is a big company that i shipped to not an individual so im thinking he might of got it mixed up with all his incoming stuff

since i dont have the tracking # or reciept usps says there is nothing they can do to help me find it or where its at

im going to be out ~$500 if i cant find this cause he said hes going to file a claim with paypal

ideas ?

if you can remember the near exact time/date you sent it, you might want to talk to someone higher in the food chain at the post office. USPS is horrible with packages. I stopped sending stuff through them, and if I do, I always keep the receipt. They've lost plenty of my packages in the past, and without receipt, they won't (not can't) do much for you.

I hope you find the lost package!

They also are not very motivated to help you. (in my experience with my post office) Ask to meet with the Postmaster.

get the tracking # that is the # on the receipt.. if you emailed it to him check your outbox for it.. with that you can see if it was signed for by tracking it.. if it was signed for then it is on him not you.

We will not grant any Claim unless you first initiate a Dispute in our Resolution Center within 45 Days of the date of the relevant payment and then escalate the Dispute into a Claim within 20 Days of the date you file your Dispute. It is your responsibility to keep track of the deadlines under this section.

You have nothing to worry about unless he already filled a few days ago otherwise it is to far back for him to dispute!

Unless it's changed, disputing doesn't do any good with Paypal anyway. When I did it, they sent an automated email to the other person and waited 30 days for a response. No response so they said I win, but he didn't have any money in his account, so I got nothing from paypal. lol

Disputed it through my CC company (yay) and they reversed the charge. I then got a follow up email from Paypal threatening to close my account because I didn't dispute the CC charge through Paypal. (paypal charges 10 bux where as it's free to go directly to your CC company)

I heart/hate paypal at the same time.
