^^^^I'm with this guy

If I were in your shoes (even though you are young and don't have a lot of money<---I am ASSuming this) I would fix that R1 back up and put it on the street and ride it in honor of your old man. I apologize for not commenting sooner. I'm sad to hear of your loss and you and your family will be in my prayers.

I measured it up, and the frame is about 4-6" shorter than normal

SO back to the question, the motor doesnt have much ice on it, will it be damaged too bad? As far as the handlebar controls, will they be okay when i de-ice it? And things under the seat like the battery etc; will that be fine for the night?

If there is antifreeze in the coolant the motor will be fine for the night.
In fact for a couple of nights but you don't want to leave a bike out in the weather for too long.
The cold shouldn't hurt anything but the rain will cause corrosion if it's out there too long. After a wreck like that there will be a lot of places where coatings like paint or anodizing will be cracked or scratched and corrsion will happen pretty quick.

As far as fixing it like some have suggested...

If the frame is 4-6", shorter it aint gonna be worth fixing. Parting it out is the only reasonable thing to do.

None of your fluids will freeze. That is, unless you just have straight water instead of an antifreeze mix.

dude if you still have the 250 sell it and use the money to put another frame on the r1. the body might be destroyed but not the heart of it. so i say fix it, and yamaha parts are fairly cheap compared to other brands

If you can get the front wheel pulled from the headers, go right on ahead

getting it covered with balnkets should help. If you can melt the ice and dry the bike THEN cover it and tie it up like a package then you should be totally fine.
But if its just gotta make it until tomorrow then you should be fine.
I know you said you got nowhere to put it, but if you can park the truck under some kind of cover that would also help.

Thats my plan. Too bad my 250 is being sold to pay off bills:eh: Somehow I'll still get it rebuilt
