Hey Blanco, you should re-up this ride (or post another one up). Looks like there are enough people interested, and I'd like to come out too if it's still going on.

Btw, it was nice riding w/ you the other week! You know your roads up there. I was bummed about not making it last weekend.

Weather Permitting ... I would like to ride. I'm at 300 miles and need to get to 600 for my 1000K first service.

PM me if there is another ride going on.

P.S. - I'm happy to follow and give no opinions, I just need miles with fellow riders.

07Blanco, don't get discouraged. The self-appointed scolds don't agree with the presentation of your proposed ride but riders who have ridden with you seem to like riding with you and have confidence in you. I've seen many rides posted here that have resulted in crashes and injuries without any criticism whatsoever. I'm sure you'll eventually master the "correct" ride terminology for purposes of the forum but what ultimately matters is how you lead your ride.

Don't give up man...just people trying to help... If people don't lead rides we all lose... we just are sick of hearing about crashes.. Glad lately people are ok for the most part....and yes happens no one can prevent even with the clearest, honest, and most sincere intent to just go out and ride with a good group of MH members... So try to come out and help and if you want give me a call..or PM me...

Do the ride.... people will want to come... just keep pace and be stern in your morning meeting!! Everyone rides their own bike and puts their own key in the ignition... if they are too dumb to realize they should slow the F down on a turn, then they want to or don't mind learning the hard way...trust me I know... anyway hope you all have fun!! I will try to make it!

A person without experience has no way to understand what it means to ride within their limits, making group rides geared toward them perhaps 90% educational rather than just fun.

From what I can tell, ride speeds are slow, moderate, fast, and ultra fast. Slow keeps within +5 to +10mph of posted safe speeds. Moderate keeps within +5 to +15mph of the speed limit. Fast and ultra fast go up from there. Generally ultra fast rides are with people that you know and trust and rarely if ever are announced on the message boards (usually it's a text to your buddy or a dedicated group that meets up every week).

There are plenty of reasons why someone might choose one speed over another, just due to the context. But the assumption that "noob"==slow ... I dunno about that. It makes for confusing group ride announcements.
I don't mind just crusing to help out new people. Just ride your own pace, and have fun. Next time I will follow you.
