3 sisters trip - Let's set it up

It's been a while since I have rode the 3 twisted sisters and I'd really love to go again very soon. I realize it's going to be a hot summer, as we have already seen, but I'm still down to go.

Ideally, I would like to trailer there. I've ridden the backroads there once and it was do able, but trailering is just easier and more controlled. Plus, riding there would require taking time off work if you have a M-F job.

IMO, the best way to do the trip is prepping Thurs night, leaving Fri afternoon when most folks get off work, arriving Fri night, riding all day Saturday, maybe a 1/2 day Sunday at the least, and driving back to Houston right after that.

This next trip will be my 5th one there and I will be glad to lead the ride. I know all the routes. All we need is a few folks to show interest, decide on when we want to go, and figure out where we will stay. We can get 1st floor hotel rooms and pull our bikes inside overnight
I have a truck I can use to get us there that seats 6 total and can fit all our stuff in the bed w/camper top, I'm just lacking a trailer big enough to carry 6 motorcycles. If we had to, we could rent one, or use one that a generous MH member offers up. Obviously we can split up into groups and get there with 2 or more vehicles if necessary.

And if you've never rode the 3 Twisted Sisters loop and surrounding roads.... Holy Chit Some of the best riding in Texas

Let's do this!

EDIT: I'm thinking the weekend of July 20-22, otherwise it would be August as the next available weekend for ME, which I would gladly do the trip again

This is a great idea! I've never been but definitely interested... Was already planning a camping trip to the Guadalupe River state park but this sounds great.

I've never camped out on this trip, we've always stayed in hotels, but I would be okay with camping. It would definitely be cheaper than staying at a hotel 2 nights. You can buy a tent at Academy starting at $20. I could park my bike in the tent and sleep next to it

I'll call that place tmrw during business hours and get the low down...

I'm thinking of planning this as soon as two weeks. Next weekend I'll be fishing.

I rode a 310 mile loop yesterday no probs in temps of 93*.

I've been to the 3 sisters in the past when it was HOT, so we stopped on CR335 mid day and we took a dip in the river, it was awesome. We just made sure to stay hydrated and it was bearable.

EDIT: Pics added. WOOHOO!

We swam on the left side of this first picture, the other side wasn't deep.

Labor day weekend? That would give us an extra day of riding.

Yea and more traffic....

I mean I would be down to go labor day too. This ain't your typical Sunday ride though. 1-1.5 maybe 2 days of riding is plenty, trust me.
